Volunteer

HfHBC is a volunteer-powered organization. Our volunteers make it possible for the mission of building decent, affordable homes for hardworking Bergen County families to become a reality.

Anyone can become a volunteer.  Construction skills are not required, in fact our Director of Construction begins each day's activities with instruction in the safe operation of tools and use of materials.  In addition our website contains a "Registration and Orientation" section which covers key safety practices.

We need your help to keep building homes for hard-working families.

New Volunteers
Please complete the New Volunteer registration.  Once registered, visit the Volunteer Calendar to schedule your volunteer day.  Volunteers must be at least 16 years old to work on the construction site.  Volunteers younger than 16 are encouraged to join our Youth United Program.

Returning Volunteers
Using your login, visit the Volunteer Calendar to schedule your volunteer day.

Youth United
HfH of BC has a special group of volunteers aged 5-25.  These individuals form a team that supports the Habitat mission in many creative ways, including advocacy events and fundraisers.

Groups
• Determine the size of your group; we limit the number of group members to 6-15.
• Select a leader for your group, complete the New Volunteer registration and create a New Group. Note: Organization is a broad category under which many groups can be created.  If your group is volunteering on multiple days, you will need to create a group for each day.
• Contact the Director of Volunteers at 201.457.1020 to schedule a construction date.
• Review our Team Build form.
• Once your group's date is confirmed, have all group members complete the New Volunteer registration and Volunteer Pledge Campaign prior to the volunteer date.

We also have opportunities for volunteers to provide lunch or snacks for construction volunteers.  If you are interested in this we have a section on our Volunteer Calendar for you to choose what day and which site.

Prior to coming to the jobsite each volunteer must complete a Liability Waiver  and bring the waiver to  the work site on the day that you volunteer.

The sites are open Tuesday through Saturday and the workday is 8am - 4pm.  You have to be at least 16 years old to work on the construction site.      You MUST be on the construction schedule prior to coming out to the jobsites, please do not show up at the work site without notice.

Thank you for lending your helping hands to Habitat for Humanity of Bergen County.  We look forward to hearing from you!

Our ONLINE Volunteer Calendar Schedule is available for you to schedule your dates for volunteering for a variety of opportunities.  If you have a special need please contact the office 201-457-1020 or  email.
